To follow you

Matthew 4:18-22

Jesus Calls His First Disciples

18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Loving Lord, you wandered onto the beach and lives were changed. You gave these men an opportunity to follow you and - what an adventure ensued!

Ringleader Jesus, would you invite me onto your team? Would there be room for me? Would I have a part to play? Do you see in me any gifts or talents or characteristics that you could use for the building of your Kingdom?

And if you called me, would I be ready to lay everything down - all that is known and dear - to follow you? Would that be an opportunity that I'd grab hold of with both hands?

Come, Lord, on to the beach of my life and call me into your service, pray. Your servant is listening and is ready.

In Jesus' name, AMEN.
