Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
for ever.

Thick stone walls with stainglass window
Wooden door with comforting latch
Woodburning stove stoked and fired
Wooden benches awaitìng the pilgrims
Refugees from life and work, joy and pain
A carpenters workshop becomes a chapel
Hours of silence envelop my soul

High stone walls from ages past
Surround the garden neatly laid
Gods gift of nature carefully tended
A bench to meditate in glorious warmth
A painted door in far off wall
Beckons me to push and open
A new chapter in my life begins

Walls of trees and hedges high
Provide a sanctuary of stillness
The curtain of heaven pulled back to reveal
God's love in all its fullness
As if  I were the only one in the whole earth
And nothing in between God's love and me
In this thinnest of places.

Walls of grass weave a labyrinth
Through the common everyday
Guiding the weary to a place of peace
Leaden steps become lighter as they
Approach the centre, finding their rest
Their rest in you...
And life goes on revived, restored, connected.
