Thank you for love that makes the difference

Listen to this daily worship
1 Corinthians 13: 1-3 (GNT)
1 I may be able to speak the languages of human beings and even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. 2 I may have the gift of inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have all the faith needed to move mountains—but if I have no love, I am nothing. 3 I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burned—but if I have no love, this does me no good.
No matter what we do, however apparently good, if it is done without love, it is worthless. Yet the least act of kindness, of compassion, of consideration for others, done in love, is done for God.
Jeremiah (see yesterday’s Daily Worship) did not know what to say, but God told him. The use of language is one of the wonders of being human, and can be used or misused – music to the ears or a discordant clang. Language is precious and we do well to use it responsibly. We rightly worry about the ease with which modern media enable the spread of fake news, untruth and hatred. May we use language with love.
Read more about the power of selfless love in Matthew 25: 31-40.
Prayer:
Loving God, thank you for your love that makes the difference –
to us when we receive it;
to our brothers and sisters when we share it,
whether in speech or in action;
to the world when we speak truth to power.
Loving God, accept our gratitude and love.
