Isaiah 43: 1-3

Israel’s only Saviour

But now, this is what the Lord says –
    he who created you, Jacob,
    he who formed you, Israel:
‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
    I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God,
    the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour;
I give Egypt for your ransom,
    Cush and Seba in your stead.

Jesus, we live in a world where often your name is mocked,
ignored, a cause of division,
a cause of death…
and we get scared…
we forget that you are King of Kings and Lord of all…
forgive us we pray.

Keep us dreaming dreams, keep us filled with fresh vision as we seek to serve you in new and in old ways.

Lord, you have called us by name, and you have called us your people,
And you have commissioned us to go to all nations to tell the Good News.
Send your Holy Spirit as we speak out in sanctuaries, hospital wards, war zones, peace camps, shopping centres, prisons, street corners, homeless units, Princes Street Gardens, Commonwealth Games, our homes, our relationships, and in all the world.

Amen
