Searching for compassion

Psalm 62: 1-2

1-2 God, the one and only—
I’ll wait as long as he says.
Everything I need comes from him,
so why not?
He’s solid rock under my feet,
breathing room for my soul,
An impregnable castle:
I’m set for life.

5-6 God, the one and only—
I’ll wait as long as he says.
Everything I hope for comes from him,
so why not?
He’s solid rock under my feet,
breathing room for my soul,
An impregnable castle:
I’m set for life.

7-8 My help and glory are in God
—granite-strength and safe-harbor-God—
So trust him absolutely, people;
lay your lives on the line for him.
God is a safe place to be.

It isn’t right you know”.....

“In this day and age it shouldn’t happen”...

“There are so many benefits out there”....

“It’s all their own fault”

Lord God, it breaks my heart when people condemn, and sneer, and huff.

My heart yearns for a caring smile, a generous hug, or even a bag of food to fill an empty belly.

I know it shouldn’t happen, but the reality is that it does.

So my heart reaches out to the hungry in the streets where I live...

In your name and for your Gospel, Amen.
