Psalm 46:1-6

Psalm 46:1-6;10

God is our refuge and strength
An ever-present help in trouble
Therefore we will not fear,
Thought the earth give way
And mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
Though it’s waters roar and foam
And the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
The holy place where the Most High dwells
God is within her, she will not fall,
God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in an uproar, kingdoms fall
He lifts his voice, the earth melts…
“Be still, and know that I am God’

What does it mean to have our eyes open and our ears tune to the creation around us, and the Holy Spirit within us?

Reflection:

You made everything so beautiful Lord
But sin has marred your creation
And beauty gives way to destruction
The high places are left desolate
And lives are lost in desperate struggles
Fear dominates and hope is diminishing
Where does our help come from?
When all around chaos reigns
‘My help comes from the Lord
The maker of heaven and earth
He will not let your foot slip
He who watches over you will not slumber nor sleep’
I can be still and not fret, look and see with Spirit filled eyes
God is all around, bringing light into the darkness
The shadow of the cross falls over this broken world
Bringing healing, redemption and hope
We need not be afraid
The way before us is clear
‘the way, the truth and the life.’
