1 Samuel 16:7
Man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.
Maybe the problem is not so much that we enjoy outward beauty,
as that we are disinclined to do the hard work
of discovering the hidden reality
which reveals a person’s true measure:
confirming our integrity or exposing our hypocrisy.
In this age of celebrity,
sharpen our appreciation for depth
and cure our embarrassing obsession with glamour.
Amen.
