Colossians 1: 15-17 (NRSVA)

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers—all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Lord Jesus, when you hung upon on the cross, 

To die in our place

You took on the sins of all humanity.

We broke your body and your heart,

With the pain we inflict upon each other 

And the destruction we bring upon your Father’s beautiful creation.

By your grace the cross stretches out over our broken world 

Offering healing and redemption. 

By your grace we are saved.

Don’t allow us Lord to take your gift for granted.

Don’t allow us Lord to see your gift as cheap.

Disturb us in our apathy and challenge us Lord Jesus. 

Challenge us to care for the Father’s creation. 

Challenge us to cry out for justice for our brothers and sisters around the world.

Challenge us to see you in everything and everyone

Challenge us Lord Jesus that in you and through you we can bring peace, reconciliation, justice and healing to our Father’s creation.

Amen
