Fragile Children

Romans 8: 38-39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In an ever changing,
busy,
media filled world,
we pray today for the protection of our children.
In a world where children face so many threats,
where their daily freedom is curtailed by horror stories in the media.
Where school-yard bullying continues on into their bedrooms through social media sites,
and the culture of “celebrity” shapes their perception of reality.
The addictive nature of video games,
the quest to look older than their years
and the breakdown of family relationships.

In the context of this new society,
we ask for your protection on the wee hearts of our children.
We ask that you will grant wisdom to those who influence our youngsters,
that integrity and high moral standards will be modelled by teachers and parents. And we ask that we, as the church,
will feel the burden for their salvation –
that we will not rest until our young folk know that they are loved by you,
that their identity is in their saviour
and that there is a freedom in knowing you.
Excite them with the Gospel;
pour your spirit into their lives,
so that they may laugh with the angels,
knowing they are precious in your sight.
