In the welter of names involved in the Jesus story is one we have been hearing a lot recently: Syria.
We rejoice, Dear God
Because even in the least optimistic of places
Or rather because most of all in the least optimistic of places
We find you
And we find hope
Firm hope
The hope of trust patience and endurance
The hope which is a promise
We rejoice, Dear God
Because in the mission you give us
We are to be that hope

To all kingdoms and nations
Under God.
