Fair Play

Rachel August 06, 2016 0 0

2 Timothy 2: 5

An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.

The competition has begun the big one!

Athletes from all around the world gather to compete for Gold, Silver, and Bronze.  Men and women, hoping, and praying, that their dedication will pay off.  Hoping, and praying, that their long hours in training will not have been in vain.  Hoping, and praying, that others will play fair.

There were games tarnished by those who cheated. Those who did not compete according to the rules have robbed others of their glory; they wear crowns that are not rightfully theirs.  Those who came a close second or third left feeling resentful, even cynical.

Lord, in all that we do may we play fair.
Keep us from the temptation of seizing the glory due to another.
Keep us content when we have done our best, for ourselves and for our community.
Remind us that we are not in life for the quick fix, our journey is more a long walk than a sprint, we are not alone, we have each other
and above all we have the promise of your presence with us at all times, in all places.

Amen.
