Drowning in Debt

January 22, 2014 0 0

Psalm 69:1-4

1 Save me, O God,
    for the waters have come up to my neck.
2 I sink in the miry depths,
    where there is no foothold.
I have come into the deep waters;
    the floods engulf me.
3 I am worn out calling for help;
    my throat is parched.
My eyes fail,
    looking for my God.
4 Those who hate me without reason
    outnumber the hairs of my head;
many are my enemies without cause,
    those who seek to destroy me.
I am forced to restore
    what I did not steal.

God do you know what life is really like for me?
Every day is struggle
Every night is a nightmare
Gasping for breath to barely survive
Every way I turn the demand is there
The mail is no longer opened
Too many red letters
I can’t tell me wife, my husband, my partner
The loan sharks are circling, threatening
The crippling repayment tears at my flesh,
The payday deductions choke me,
The pre-paid meter lies empty
As a shell on the shoreline.

Debt has overwhelmed me,
People have taken advantage
And now I lie limp and exhausted
Drowning in debt.
Is there any way out?

Please rescue me O Lord….

Amen.
