Doorways

Malachi 3:8-12

“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.

“But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’

“In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty. ”Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.

Lord  I can use two doorways in this house, I can go out and in freely.

They remind me of two other doors  in your word.

One you closed when the Ark was ready, when men had not listened to your voice.

You Lord, not your servant Noah, decided that it was time!

The chilling words echo in my thoughts     “God closed the door.”

The other,  the door of our hearts, where your Son says “Behold I stand at the door and knock”

Father I pray for all who hear that voice, that they shall realise the opportunity which is before them

for that is the door which leads to everlasting life with You.

Thank you for opening the doors of Heaven to reach down to us and pour out such a blessing on all the world.

Amen
