Design of work, made to work.

Gen 2:1-3

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation. …… The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

Creator God
Thank you for work.
Thank you that you worked and took great pleasure in what you did
Thank you that you are still at work today, and take great pleasure in that.
Thank you for the good gift of work in all its rich design and variety.
Thank you that today you have good works prepared for me to do,
with my hands,
my voice,
my mind,
my heart
and my spirit.

Thank you for the variety of work you give
caring for a child to give security,
making a sandwich to provide nourishment,
potting up a plant to bring beauty,
washing dishes to create order,
digging drains to bring health
making high finance deals to produce wealth
managing to generate employment and wellbeing.

Thank you that in work I can find expression of who I am,
what I am good at
that in your sight it is all valued and valuable.
Today, as I work,
may I be conscious and thank full that I can work.

In Jesus name
Amen.
