Psalm 51: 10-12 (NRSVA)

10

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and put a new and right spirit within me.

11

Do not cast me away from your presence,
and do not take your holy spirit from me.

12

Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and sustain in me a willing spirit.

Before the storm clouds have cleared there is a darkness and a calm.

It is a calm in which a neighbour rights their upturned wheelie bin.

It is a calm in which flickering lights are steadied again.

A calm in which children play in puddles bigger than they have ever seen.

A calm in which people breathe easier and start to smile.

In this calm we remember God.

God who has been at work transforming us and all the things around us.

God who asks us to be open to the changes each storm brings.

God who stands with us as the clouds blow away at last and we see the sky made new.

PRAYER:

Dear God through the darkness,

Thank you that the absence of light is not enough to chase you away

Thank you that you are present in everything we do

Open our eyes to the changes you bring with your Spirit

Open our hearts to the moments to praise you, whatever the weather.

Amen
