Psalm 31:1-5

Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16

In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
    let me never be put to shame;
    deliver me in your righteousness.
2 Turn your ear to me,
    come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
    a strong fortress to save me.
3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,
    for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
4 Keep me free from the trap that is set for me,
    for you are my refuge.
5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;
    deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.

15 My times are in your hands;
    deliver me from the hands of my enemies,
    from those who pursue me.
16 Let your face shine on your servant;
    save me in your unfailing love.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the words of the Psalms

Which so often express just how I feel

In times of distress

When I open to this one or that

The words of encouragement and peace

Of reassurance and forgiveness

Of anxiety and anger

Of comfort and deliverance

Of rescue and refuge

Of humility and praise

They all tumble off the page

And into my heart

Restoring, renewing, reviving

As my words of distress melt away

Gathered in heavenly whispers

Wrapped in words of love

Stored in God’s treasury

And I know

All will be well,

All will be well.
