Matthew 18: 21 – 22
The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
That’s it, Lord! I’ve got her now!
I’ve forgiven that so-and-so 489 times
the next is her last – after that she’ll see what’s what!
That’s what you said, isn’t it, Lord?
That’s the limit and I’ve kept a count.
I’m sorry if I’ve got it wrong – but you know that…
after all how many times have I said that to you…?
