New and imaginative directions

Information is at our fingertips today. Just “Google it” and you’re almost guaranteed to get what you need. But all the information in the world is not the same as the wisdom to understand it. When we follow Jesus, we will undoubtedly be led in new and imaginative directions. Peter discovered to his astonishment that the Gospel is for everyone. Those he once thought to be on the outside were to be welcomed in. As this truth dawned on him, it all made sense. When we walk with him who is the fount of all wisdom, we will surely find, as Peter did, that we start thinking very differently indeed.

Prayer:

Lord, I thank you that you have a plan which is bigger and better than anything I could conceive of myself. Help me to follow in trust, and to ask each day for your wisdom to guide me. May I find peace in the knowledge that you love all your children and hold the world gently in the palm of your hand. Amen.

Acts 11: 1-2; 4; 17-18 (NRSVA)

1 Now the apostles and the believers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also accepted the word of God. 2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him,

4 Then Peter began to explain it to them, step by step, saying,

17 If then God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could hinder God?’ 18 When they heard this, they were silenced. And they praised God, saying, ‘Then God has given even to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life.’
