2 Timothy 3: 16-17 (NRSVA)
16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
The Bible is just a book, with pages full of black and white printed words. It is no different from any other printed book, until the Holy Spirit breathes upon the words and they become God’s living words. Divine oracles of truth and justice, hope and mercy, love and redemption, speaking to a weary soul the words of life. Moving with power from the printed page into human hearts, transforming the most unexpected people into God’s inspired change-makers in the world.
PRAYER:
Come breath of God
Breathe upon these words of Scripture
Let them be read aloud among your people
Make them to become alive in us
May we become the embodied words of protest
Bringing faith through teaching
Bringing hope through training
Bringing love through living
May we be the embodied words of comfort
Bringing unity through our growing in grace
Bringing peace through our sharing in understanding
And bringing healing through our knowledge of goodness
Come breath of God
Breathe upon these words of Scripture
Let them be read aloud among your people
