Two second sulk

Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 30: 4-5 (NIVUK)
4 Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
praise his holy name.
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favour lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Does God sulk? If I ever have the opportunity to ask I will, but I suspect the answer is no. Because as much as we are made in the image of God, we are full of flaws and one of those is probably sulking. ‘For his anger is but for a moment’ sings the psalmist, imagine if we all only held our anger for a moment, just the briefest touch and then let it float away into the breeze like blossoms from a tree that had new things to grow and better things to be doing.
God shows us how to let go of anger.
No matter what, God lets it go and opens the door to connection and love. God beckons us like new flowers growing cautiously through rubble and dust, God calls us to grow, to flower, to leave behind the sulk and see the possibilities. To greet the joy of the morning with a new purpose.
I’ll try and remember this next time I’m tempted to throw my grumpy little self into a sulk. Perhaps you can try and remember it too.
Prayer:
Dear God of open doors
Thank you that you love us
Help us to love those around us and to love ourselves
Teach us to let our grumbles and anger float away
Call us to flower anew
Amen
