Galatians 5: 22-23 (NIVUK)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

As part of my ministry I along with a colleague lead a course called Flourish in our local schools. With its foundations rooted in the Bible we help the young people grow confidence and self esteem, understand their identity, and develop a growth mindset.

In one of the early weeks we explore beliefs, behaviour and the voices we listen to that influence us. We explore the iceberg model and how we are like icebergs. That is that like an iceberg, only 10 percent of us is what others see on the surface and how we present ourselves. The other 90 percent is hidden below the surface and is made up of our beliefs, our values, and our thoughts about the world and ourselves.

If only 10 percent of ourselves is visible to the world it is important as Christians we allow the Holy Spirit to be at work within us so that we can display and embody the fruits of the Spirit, helping and influencing all we come in contact with.

Holy Spirit

I give you permission to work within me and my life.

Cleanse me of the works of the flesh.

Walk with me,

lead me,

Grow your fruits within me

So that I embody

Love,

Forbearance,

Kindness,

Goodness,

Faithfulness,

Gentleness and

Self-control
