Ephesians 1: 15-23 (NIVUK)

15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

“Open the eyes of my heart Lord, open the eyes of my heart…”

(Open the Eyes of My Heart by Paul Baloche)

This is the work of the Holy Spirit giving us wisdom and revelation
to have our eyes open and enlightened is the image of precisely that.

In partnership with the Holy Spirit we are to expect wisdom and revelation of three things, three huge things:

To know the hope to which God has called us
The riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints
God’s incomparably great power for us who believe

Just look at what God is offering you wisdom and revelation of?!

I won’t belittle them by offering brief explanations of what they are, and you should not accept any. Instead see this for what it is, an invitation to press in to obtain greater revelation and wisdom in these areas in partnership with the Holy Spirit.

Don’t try to quantify, just start where you are, and invite the Holy Spirit to give you revelation and wisdom in one of these areas.

They are deep wells of revelation and wisdom and you should draw from them over and over again. Revelations may be large or small, but they are for the development of wise living on your part so they are valuable.

It was Jesus who said “He will teach you all things; He will guide you into all truth”. Who is this person? The Holy Spirit.

Prayer:

Open the eyes of my heart, Holy Spirit, open the eyes of my heart. I seek the revelation for wise living that comes from partnership with you. Holy Spirit, guide me and teach me, I invite you to open the eyes of my heart today.
