Ezekiel 37: 7-10 (NRSVA)

7 So I prophesied as I had been commanded; and as I prophesied, suddenly there was a noise, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 I looked, and there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them; but there was no breath in them. 9 Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, mortal, and say to the breath: Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.’ 10 I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood on their feet, a vast multitude.

There are two exercises for you today. I encourage you to take time to do them both several times today.

Exercise 1

Take a large breath and hold it, hold it as long as you can, hold it until your lungs burst open so to speak.

How did you feel initially? How did you feel after sixty seconds?

As the body is made to breathe, you are made for life with the Spirit.

Exercise 2

Intentional breathing, four seconds in, six seconds out. Repeat many times.

As you do this consider that you are drawing air from outside you, and in turn releasing the air from inside you

When you breathe in, welcome into your being the Holy Spirit

when you breathe out release the Holy Spirit into your environment.

As the body is made to breathe, you are made for life with the Spirit.

“The spirit gives life, the flesh counts for nothing” John 6:63

Prayer:

Breathe in…

Welcome Holy Spirit!

Breathe out…

Release the Holy Spirit
