Psalm 139: 13-18 (NIVUK)

13 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
    they would outnumber the grains of sand –
    when I awake, I am still with you.

Almighty God
Creator of Heaven and earth
I cannot escape from your influence
Something deep within says
I’m God-breathed
God-shaped
God-made from the inside out
You must have planted these thoughts inside me
There’s a knitting of thoughts together within me — making me alive
There’s a rustling of leaves
Around me causing me to feel your presence
Is this the breath of heaven on my neck
Whispering ‘Stop striving
Your moments
Your days are here
Your time will come
Stop striving to grow
Stop straining to know
Let the tree of knowledge sow peace
Into your restless soul’

Almighty God
Master of all creation
Nothing is hidden from your gaze
Let me hear your voice again
Calming my restless soul
That I might know your thoughts
Be influenced by your compassionate grace
Change my mood and manners
Weave your words of wisdom into my troubled mind
Teach me how to be a peace planter
For all your creation is longing for peace
To bring tranquility to our anxious world.

Lord in my searching for light
I found you
In my struggle out of darkness
I embraced you
In my living life out of chaos
I encountered you
In my ceasing to strive
I found myself at peace
Awake in your embrace

Amen.
