A prayer of thanksgiving for the gift of faith

Listen to this daily worship
Matthew 13: 31-35 (NIVUK)
31 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
33 He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.”
34 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. 35 So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet:
“I will open my mouth in parables,
I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.”
Father God,
When I was a child
I laughed and joked and ran wild
I planted a mustard seed of Kingdom faith
In my heart
Promises of goodness and mercy
Handed down from you to me
Through many generations
Your loving kindness
Has followed me all my days
Such a small and fragile thing
Faith growing up in a child
Thank you for the seedling gift of faith
It passed through many faithful hands
Before it ever took root
Watered at my baptism
Nurtured by your Word
Confirmed by your Spirit
Rooted in the soil of grace — a tiny green shoot
And now this seed, this gift of faith
This mustard seed of hope and love
Has grown tall — a tree for all
That stands the test of time
Protecting us from winds of doubt
Revealing hidden mysteries
Thank you for the growing gift of faith
