Matthew 16.15
"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?”
Lord, what were you worried your disciples might say?
That you were just a great teacher,
or the one to lead an insurrection against the Romans?
Or, worse, that they didn’t know?
How did you feel when Peter blurted out his answer?
Were you shocked, or pleasantly surprised?
“You are the Christ, son of the living God!”
Humility aside, identity matters.
Knowing you for who you really are,
defines me as I aspire to be:
your witness, a lifelong follower of the Anointed One.
