Salt and light

December 21, 2013 0 0

Matthew 5:13-14

‘You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 ‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

Father, thank you for the opportunity to be salt and light.
My place of work can be tasteless and dark at times.
I love my work and the buzz of a new day.
It is an opportunity to find fulfilment and purpose.
My journey is so bound to my work and I pray to get this part of my life right.

But

Eh….my workplace sometimes, kind of lacks….salt and light.

Keep from a judgemental attitude towards workmates
Give me a sympathetic heart to listen to their issues

Help me to help others
May my promotions be secondary to promoting you

May I have tasteful conversations
May building others up be a priority
May the salt of your love heal wounds
May the light of a consistent life draw others to you
When temptations come may grace prevail
May I ask for forgiveness when wrong and offer it to others when wronged

My workplace and my Sunday pew
Two different places from where the same person worships.

Thank you for the opportunity to be salt and light. Amen
