Running Toward the Goal

Rachel July 27, 2016 0 0

Philippians 3:12-14

I do not claim that I have already succeeded or have already become perfect. I keep striving to win the prize for which Christ Jesus has already won me to himself. Of course, my friends, I really do not think that I have already won it; the one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead. So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God's call through Christ Jesus to the life above.

Please reflect on the hymn "Look forward in faith". The song says 'Look forward in faith, all time is in God’s hand'.

Loving God, for some today the dreams of Olympic glory have ended, and all those years of training feel wasted,
Yet this is a new morning, and you have a new plan and greater opportunities in store.
I want to say thank you today for the athletes, coaches and trainers who give of their time to inspire and encourage young people to reach their goals, and to achieve their best.
Help those who feel disappointed to know that they can make a difference in the lives of others who can be nurtured and mentored in the future.
Open the doors of opportunity so that people who are seeking meaning in their life, or a way of expressing themselves, that they can do this through sport and activity.
Guide our world to “Look forward in faith” so that achievements can be measured by your love, joy and delight in what each individual can be.

Amen.
