Dream of Hope

Hebrews 12:1-2

'Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run the race with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith'.

Lord, you have given us the gift of physical movement and the sheer joy of sport. We come together hoping to achieve, hoping to win, hoping to gain better lives.
Hold us in your care so that we might recognise that our true hope lies in you.
Lord, where we are called on to be
ambassadors for our country may we compete with honour and integrity, seeking to build good relationships with all whom we meet.
Hold us in your care so that we might know the true meaning of integrity in you.
Lord, in this amazing gift of sport you present us with the challenge of not allowing ourselves to be corrupted by its wealth and power but to allow the wonder of this gift to be the real essence of playing.
Hold us in your care so that we might know that the only true treasure is you.
Lord, the  Invictus Games. Sport for those broken in body, mind and spirit but made 'whole' through sport. Giving, purpose hope and fellowship. Their courage inspiring, their tenacity amazing and their sheer determination humbling to see.  All this from you Lord.
Hold us in your care that we may run the race before us with our eyes fixed firmly on Jesus.
Amen.
