Striving together

Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the greatness of his government and peace
 there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
 and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness from that time on and for ever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
 will accomplish this.

Ecclesiastes 2:22 describes this anxious striving without God, “What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labour under the sun?”

By Jesus’ death and blood
we enter Your awesome Throne Room,
Your place of power and influence.
We do not pretend to deserve Your favour,
but rejoice that you love us inside and out.
There is nothing I can do to make You love me more or less,
and You love me too much to leave me the way I am.
Discipline and draw me deeper into Your Gracious Team.
Charge our servant hearts with your selfless energy
to be the workers, players and team members we’re called to be.
May we settle for nothing less
than the Gold of Your gleaming face, beaming from heaven,
as we live for an ‘audience of One’!
Striving together with You,
Your People and our neighbours,
to see all things worked together for The Best.
